Is it possible to love a friend and care for him/her, but just love them as a friend?
Yes. Easy to do.
You are not attracted to them in that way you would be to a person you desired but they are there for you and a good support system and you like who they are as a person, so you can love them for who they are without any romantic attraction.
Yes, most of my friends are female and I love them all but it is a very different love than how I love my wife.
Yes. I had a very good male friend that I loved and cared about, but in no way wanted him romantically. I looked at him like a brother.
Yup, its possible. Friendship is more important than love. We can love or care our friends and you know its a beautiful feeling when we love our friends.

I also have a few friends who happen to be girls and I love them as friends only.
But then again, what exactly IS "friend's love"? It's completely generalized term IMO
