Interview for Promotion...

Cross your fingers for me, guys.

I have an interview tomorrow for a promotion I have little chance of getting. Well, it depends actually.

I'm the newest employee there, and I know that there's two other people applying internally that THINK they are shoo-ins for the position....those young ones I was bitching about (entitlement thread). I happen to know the boss is pissed off with them and told me they won't be getting that job.

I have a good shot if there's no external applicants. My boss loves me and has been trying to groom me for this promotion, although an experienced external applicant would definitely have a huge edge over me.

I really want this, the money is good, and it will give me a step towards the position I'm hoping for when school is done. I need a miracle!

You don't need a miracle Blue, my crystal ball says you'll get it :)

No one is getting shooed into anything these days. The best candidate is the one that is chosen...no one wants to have any kind of outgoing expense, so if they have to they want the BEST they can get.

When your boss has been working with you to make YOU best suited for the job, you can be assured your name has been mentioned behind doors you don't know about, and I mean that in a good way.

Knock 'em dead ;)

Do what you can do and don't get hung up on it if it doesn't happen this time.

Had the interview today and I think I killed it. Boss (who was interviewing me) said that there were two very experienced external applicants, but I shouldn't count myself out, because he cares less about experience and more about attitude, so basically I played Little Miss Go-Getter.

I won't be totally bummed if I don't get it, but it would be nice. I'm know they're getting me ready to move up anyhow.

a lot of people don't count too much on experience. a lot of times they are burnt out and can't get people to connect with them. my supervisors hired me out of a bunch of people with faaaaaaaaaar more experience than me, but thought i would be good because well i speak spanish, and because they thought i would be better able to connect with their clients. they have told me many times that you could be the crappiest at what you do, but as long as you genuinely care people will forgive that.
