A Poem From Me to You

The current is coming. Are my wings ready to fly?
Give me a shove, come on, I want to try.
There's only one chance, its do-or-die,
If I succeed, I could fly really high.

But no! There’s a problem with my wing,
My feathers are clipped, this cannot be happening!
The current – oh no! It’s moving on.
All my friends are leaving me – they’re gone!

I'll miss my current; I must take the dive,
I can't stay in your nest for the rest of my life!
Grant me wings and grant me sight,
It’s now time for me to finally take flight.

The current is passing, the end is near,
Standing at the edge I feel great fear.
Am I ready, this choice is it right?
Another current might come, it might.

Three voices there are inside my head,
Hope, excitement, and one of dread.
The last of the current would soon disappear
Should I go now or should I wait here?

I must go now or I’d miss the current. I want
You to leave with me but you’d rather stay.
Why must we part, this is what I don’t want,
But part we must, part we must this day.

Cos I don’t believe I’d get another chance.
But I miss the days we got to dance,
Dance together, dance the night away,
Who would have known it would end this way?

But no it’s not the end. Love, I’m sorry I have to
Leave this nest of yours I’ve grown attached to.
My wings are fixed now and I’m ready to go,
But you won’t want to support me, no?

You want me to stay, but don’t you get it?
I would always love you, I can’t bear to part
But you’ve got to let me go out in the heat, the heat
That would train me, though it would strain my heart.

The current is going. Are my wings ready to fly?

I promise one day I would return to thee,

Take care of yourself while I’m gone,
I would always remember the dances we had.
Both of us would never be forlorn
Cos we have our memories to accompany us to bed

Your love would give me strength to live
Even when I’m beaten, the love that you give
Would be able to let me hold strong
I’m gonna succeed, I can’t be wrong.

So don’t worry about me just
Keep me in your heart and trust
That one day, one day in the future
I’d return and I’d marry you, I’m sure.

It’s time to take flight.
Remember our ties that bind
I’ve to say goodbye tonight
