Distance relationship Help

Happy New Years Everyone.

Well me and my girlfriend are going through some issues. We aren't communicating with each other good enough, like we should. We are having many problems (well i think we are) but they are because we arnt communicating to each other like we should. The huge reason we aren't communicating, because the way we are communcating (lol if that made since) So we used to just do aim, texting, but we deciding to cut the aim off so its just texting right now.
She also wants me to call her but for some reason im like so nervous/scared about calling her. Its really about the conversation during the call ill be nervous about. She's actually been wanting me to call her for awhile but i havent and i really need to. Can anyone help me get over myself so i can just call her and get this over with?
