Pregnant Lazy Beyatch
this is really bothering me. a new girl started working with us beginning of this year. my age, has 3 kids. she was so nice and polite that I actually asked for her. that is until i started exchanging e-mails with her. here's an example:
me: E,
This request was originally mailed on 01/21/10, have you already caught up to that date?
E.: NO I HAVENT JULIE NOT AT ALL I HAVE LETTERS FROM YOU OTHERS PLUS I HAVE MEDICAL RECORDS SO IT’S A LITTLE HARD TO CATCH UP WHEN I WAS LEFT WITH A LOT OF WRK FROM BEFORE AND I KEEP GETTING NEW ONES EVERY DAY…. I STILL HAVE FROM LATE JANUARY TIL NOW I DON’T THINK ILL BE CATCHING UP ANYTIME SOON PLUS I WAS OUT FOR 2 3 DAYS REMEMBER I WAS SICK SO THAT’S PUT ME BACK EVEN MORE BUT I HAVE TALKED TO OTHERS ABOUT ALL THIS ILL BE COMING IN SATURDAY TO WRK N HOPE THAT WILL HELP IF U HAVE ANY THAT URGENT JST MRK THEM URGENT N ILL GET TO THEM FIRST OHH THE DAY I WAS NEXT DOOR ALL DAY N EVEN IF IM HERE OR NOT I KEEP GETTING LETTERS SO IT PUTS ME BACK EVEN MORE!! BUT IF U HAVE ANY THAT ARE NOT DONE N TO BE JUST SEND THEM WITH A REMINDER AGAIN THNKS
that might fly with some people but it irritated the shit out of me. nothing has changed since january, she is even more behind. she hardly moves, spends the whole day on the phone and now she told me that she is pregnant again, putting me in a sticky situation. i don't have the heart to fire a pregnant girl with 3 other kids. WTF do i do?
-
Can she be transferred elsewhere? If not, you'd better start writing her up, because you are going to end up having to fire her eventually.
BTW - I thought you were gonna tell us YOU were pregnant. lol
-
HA HA HA!
No one wants her, she was kicked out from other department and now that everyone knows how lazy she is they won't even consider her.
She is a single mom btw.
And her performance really affects mine, since I have to do everything that she is behind on. She screws up all legal paperwork that I need to redo.
-
Don't feel sorry for her. A woman with 3 kids + being pregnant needs to learn how to be a responsible Mom. Sometimes people need the fear of sinking before they'll start to swim on their own.
-
pretty soon, you will be so frustrated, you wont feel guilty about firing her. Just start documenting in which areas she isn't meeting the work standards so she is officially notified.
-
Tell her that it's not good enough and you're going to give her a warning if she doesn't start pulling her weight.
-
I won't even know how to bring it up :(
-
I think if she wasn't pregnant then I'd have an easier time with warnings and all
-
Well, I'll put it this way. If you don't, you will not be teaching her anything. She has to learn how to pay consequences for her actions. It will make her reflect on how her choices affect her kids.
-
Fire her. Those children aren't your responsibility. You don't have to fret over their wellbeing. That's her job. She isn't doing a very good job of it. Don't let that kind of shit get to you.
-
I don't feel real bad for her. This is all self inflicted and you should not feel bad. You'd call out someone being lazy if they were coming in hungover and not doing shit all day, wouldn't you? She probably knows she can sail at work because she hasn't met anyone who's dared to call her out and she probably knows if she did get fired she'd get the mad hook up on unemployment/welfare/WIC/etc....
-
thank you guys, I just really needed to vent and get other opinions. i feel so heartless even thinking of letting her go.
and she always keeps saying how blessed she is to even have a job.
-
It sounds like she's using your hospitality to take advantage for you. Is there a performance monitoring process in your work place that you can implement to keep her in check?
-
unfortunately not. maybe i should bring it up with the BOSS.
-
You could shove her down the stairs...I won't tell.
