I snack a little for at least half an hour before I exercise. This gives me the energy I need before an intense work out.
You never really want to exercise on an empty stomach. Food is energy. If you don't want to eat a huge meal at least have a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter and a hard boiled egg. Or bananas and almonds (plain. None of that salty/sugary shit) or you could always have a protein shake. And definitely make sure you stay hydrated.
