Why is he referred to as African American when he is of mixed origins?
Because anything less than pure white is colored.
he looks dark enough to be considered black.. and if he isn't, then something is wrong with your television set.

people here still ascribe to the whole "one drop rule" thing. that means even if you have the smallest amount of black in you, you're black.
it's residual concept and mindset.
didn't you read my last post?? just adjust your tv monitor.

He looks black, so that's what he is labelled.
If he looked white, they'd be calling him white.
Anyway, who cares?
i care a lot.

i'm yellow but no one ever tells me that.

Black, white, brown or yellow, it's all the same.
If you want to classify Barack Obama, he's an American. That's it. I'm sick of this stupid division. Multiculturalism is great in small doses, but the reality is we're supposed to be a united people. Not a whole bunch of groups and subgroups divided by the shallowest of differences.
I'm an American. Not latin American, not hispanic, not white, not any of that shit. American.
the sarcasm was not needed... i am very disappointed in you..i'm telling on you.Quote:

People just really want to think they're being progressive and voting in a black president.
I'm going to vote for Obama just because I don't want McCain to win.Quote:

Luckily, I'm voting in a swing state.
