Dating at work

Does anyone have any thoughts on dating people at work? I want to get some advice before showing interest to a colleague

Dont do it

As follows why you shouldn't date at work:

-Unprofessional. Most employers frown upon coworkers dating because it can cause distraction, disrupt productivity.
-Can cause a hostile work environment. When things go sour you still have to see each other at work. Things can get ugly, they can vindictively cause trouble for you, and jeopardize your job.
-One of you gets jealous when you see or they see you get too close to another co-worker.
-Office gossip. Surrounding employees start to meddle and rumors start to circulate causing turmoil in your relationship.
-You end up having to seek employment elsewhere because your ex turn psycho when she found out you are seeing that real cute girl that just started,
-You get dumped only to find out shes been cheating on you with your new supervisor.
-You dump her, she tells your co-worker a bunch of bs, humiliating you.
-you have a broken heart and you still have to see her knowing you will never be together ever again.

So ya it kinda sucks, so don't do it.

Remember, if it fails you will still face this person every day.
Don't do it.

We had a few situations like this where I work.
People hook up, relationship turns bad, and then one person ends up fired or quitting cause of whatever drama.
The fired part was cause the guy was stealing stuff and his ex-G/F ratted him out.
What you need to ask yourself is -
If things go bad and you had to leave the job, how hard would it be to find a similar job?

Just be friends at work and if you do see each other outside of that environment, only be in groups and don't share emotions towards that person.

There are attractive people in various places, but we're there to act professional and not flirt around.
You can do whatever you want, but don't be mad at the consequences that follow, if things go bad.

It isn't typically the best idea. I mean, I'm not going to say it is never good, but it just is best to shy away from it in most cases. If it is somebody you don't necessarily see often (maybe a different department or whatever and you barely interact) it might not be quite as risky. Still, a lot of the above responses have done a good job of illustrating some of the potential problems that can come up as result of dating a co-worker. So, in general I would advize against it, but if you really feel it is somebody that may interest you, then at the very least tread very lightly.
