If you had a guilty conscience..

Would you tell one story, but then find an excuse to change it later?

Is it typical of men who have something to hide to tell one story like: My cousin asked me to come out with her tomorrow night, so I'll be busy until about 12.

Then the next day: My cousin backed out on me, but some friends want to hang out. One girl I went to school with, she's friends with Brittany, so we're all going to meet up. I don't know how long I'll stay out, they aren't really my crowd, I'll get a hold of you after.

Now, I know neither of these stories are true. He's taking Brittany out to dinner. He insists that he wants nothing to do with her romantically, fine. I'm going to choose to believe this.

But I want to know why his lie changed. Is he feeling guilty, or just looking for a way to justify that he bullshitted me in the first place?

How do you know that?

Does this guy tend to lie about things he thinks you might not like? Also, how old are both of you? It makes a bit of a difference, as far as maturity tends to go.

Yep, his strategy of changing his story is so he can present you with his "real plans" and then be like "o shit they fell apart I guess I'll just take this girl out to dinner since my initial plans fell through"

If I had a guilty conscience, I would just come clean and break up... don't give him the best of both worlds. He doesn't care about you.

This is the first time they've seen eachother in a few years.

He tends to avoid the subjects that will piss me off, mostly this Brittany chick.
