Need advice a date after a 5 year relationship then around a year off.

Almost a year ago I broke up with my ex partner after a 5 year relationship which looking bad had more bad times than good. We have a son together who I adore.

Since breaking up I have not seeked a new relationship and have been caught up in a battle over fighting for joint custody of my son.

I have been talking to a girl that i have known for years and also both lost a good friend. Although I have not seen her for awhile we are going out on a date next weekend. She has made it clear that she is looking forward to it and so am i. she has a great personality, very attractive, a caring person and we have stuff in common.

Although I was the one that asked her my previous relationship along with my ex making it difficult to see my son I have lost a lot of confidence and I am nervous and fear I will be rusty around the edges.

We are going out for a nice meal and some drinks. The restuarant is lovely but not to formal that it may feel over the top, it should be a relaxing environment.

What advice do people have for me and some dos and donts would be a great help.

Wouldnt mention the ex or the custody battle. she knows about all that but its certainly not a date conversation and im looking forward to having a night off from it.

anyone else got any suggestions. or good things to talk about, mention etc.
