Dropping an egg
Hello. My friend and I are having a discussion about how to drop an egg if you want it to survive the fall.
There are two assumptions, one is that the egg is equally as fragile on all sides.
two is that we have no materials, just the egg.
So how do we drop it? Do we hope that it hits one of the flatter and larger sides? Or do we aim it so that it hits the pointy top, or the slightly less pointy bottom?
I argue that we should drop it on its flat side, so the force is spread out over the whole egg.
My friend argues that you want to drop it on the pointy top (i forget why she said it), but her reasoning is that divers jump into the water and go in with a tiny amount of body contact, they dont belly flop in.
So which one is right? mine? hers? neither?

Neither. Unless you put an egg in something to basically break its fall its going to break, and even if you put in something it may still break.

but in theory, which way works better? Which way has the higher survival chance?

Yeah, eggs can actually support quite a bit of weight if they are positioned just right. I've seen grown men stand on eggs before. Why? I really don't know.
