Beckoning Me To Dreamland

I wake to the sound of an approaching storm.
The rap of distant thunder,
Complementing the intensity of my longing.

So let the rain fall now,
Let it flood over the earth.
I’ll wait here with you,
Upon her highest peak,
Comforted by your gentle embrace.
And when the waters recede,
A playground of love left for you and me.

And we’ll cry out like soft possessed children,
At the wonderment of it all.

Take my hand my precious one, my sweet.
Play with me now in a new garden of Eden.
Abandon your troubles at her adorned gate.
We have lost time to make up for.
I feel as if we’ve been apart forever.
Dreamland can be so far away.

But if in my waking hours we must still be parted,
I’d just as soon sleep forever.

Let closed eye visuals dance now on the undersides of my eyelids,
Taking of discernable images of you.
Your lips,
Your cheeks,
Your nose,
Your eyes,
Fitting together slowly like beautiful puzzle pieces.
Beckoning me back to dreamland.

Thoughts of your long dark hair falling upon my bed,
Your body next to mine.
They ease my decent back there now,
Where you’re never far away.
