Is Compromise Good in a Relationship?

Pretty much a necessity.

^ What he said. It is showing respect to compromise.

It depends on what your compromising. I don't advise to compromise yourself, your values, your beliefs, your truth. But if you mean a healthy dose of give and take for the good of the relationship allowing for it's growth and future potential, then yes it's a good thing, as another poster said, a necessity.

However, Always remain true to yourself and your own values. Never compromse on that, and don't expect your partner to compromise on that either.

Learn acceptance.

MsLondon beat me to it. That was nearly exactly what I was going to say. Yes, compromise can be important in any relationship... but equally important is what and where you do and don't compromise. Here's a couple examples just to give you an idea of what I mean:

Scenario A) John and Jane both want children. Jane wants them, like, yesterday. John isn't ready quite yet, but he does feel he can be ready in a couple years so that gives them time to get their lives together a bit first. (As much as they can, anyway, because sometimes S happens, so to speak. You can only plan so much.) This very well COULD be a situation where compromise could work out.

Scenario B) Bill absolutely does not want children AT ALL. Betty wants them VERY badly. Heck, she wants a BIG family. ...This is probably NOT an example where compromise could work. The two are too far apart. Any "compromise" wouldn't really be a compromise. It would be one person giving up what they want to please the other. That, often times, can only lead to disaster down the road.

Those are just two extreme examples, but hopefully that helps illustrate that point. Compromise certainly is important in any relationship... but there are also limits to what and where you should compromise.
