Not really sure what to do now

Okay, I will keep this short.
I met a guy at a sporting event early last year and he gave me his number but for whatever reason I never used it. Then last week I see him again and we get chatting, during the conversation he asks me to a BBQ that I cant go to and he says if his plans change he will call me, if mine change I should call him (obviously assuming that I kept his number from last year because he didn't give it to me again). Anyway the BBQ date passes and I message him about a week or so after the last meeting, he writes a message saying that he guesses he will see me at afore mentioned sporting event this weekend, asks how the weekend was and what not. Well 'this weekend' has now passed and I didn't see him there and have heard nothing from him.
What do you recon?
