Friend Divorcing (because of porn)

I found this whole situation quite funny and am wondering your opinions/feelings on the matter.

Last week while I was having a drink with my friend he started talking about divorcing his wife ( I thought this was all the drink talking) when I enquired furthur and a couple of drinks later he started going on about how his wife had made him feel ashamed because she caught him a few times looking and getting off to porn. Now being the good friend that I am I laughed and gave sympathy at how much of a cold bitch she was. So 5 days later, at around 10pm I get a phone call, pick it up and he starts saying that he's filed for divorce. "why?" I asked. His reply was and I quote" I'm sick of the ****en bitch dictating my life and its limits and I want my freedom back" now I have the feeling that porn is the central issue of this whole mess.

So it poses the question are habits (good or bad) more important to oneself than a holding together a marriage. Imo if your not happy with the person you have to live with and look at all the damned time your better off dead.

a bad habbit like porn can be bad for your health if you let it get out of hand. It may make you happy but is that really the quality of life you want to live with? Even if it makes you feel good?

Alot of guys look at random porn on the net. But, a friend of mine caught her husband going to those sex chat lines because they kept popping up on their computer. Anyways, he says he was just joking around. She got seriously offended that he posted a profile. That caused a big argument and he moved out for a few days.

I mean I can see goofing around etc, but her husband doesn't come home after work. Hes always over at his parents house to hang out with his brother after work. He says he needs that time to "unwind" and he feels that my friend jumps down his throat or is looking for an argument when he comes home. He just doesn't want to deal. Sad thing is they have a 6 month old and she's at home all day every day caring for him. She is looking for a job, but cannot find one right now because of trying to work around his crazy hrs and finding daycare.

Anyways, I've seen porn ruin relationships. But, honestly I think there is more to it. I mean obviously there are other issues involved.

But honestly my opinion is, is that when your married, you need to learn to compromise your habits. If your used to going out, well you still can once in awhile but your marriage should come first. If your used to looking at porn, fine,as long as its just pics of women you aren't gonna meet or anything like that. But, at least have the decencey to hide it from the wife!

Yup, I agree. I think porn addiction is symptomatic of emotional trouble.

sounds like you only got one side of the story. i'll bet there's a lot more going on than porn...

I think there is more to it than porn, but an addiction of any kind can cause problems in a relationship. Looking at porn every once in a while won't hurt a person, but becoming totally obsessed with it can be REALLY bad for you. I think there are more issues than him just looking at porn. Something must be wrong if he'd rather jack off to porn than have sex with his wife. Especially if she's caught him more than once. Something is wrong in their relationship, and the porn is just showing up as a symptom. That's what I am getting out of it. They need to address the real underlying issue.
