Whats the next step? *Longer story*

Recently I was at a good friends, 21st suprise birthday party. He's a very likeable person and usually will talk to anyone. Because of this he has alot of friends and alot of people came to this party. His girlfriend Jessica is very similar and is likley the nicest person I've met in my life. She also invited some of her friends to the bash.

Anyway, Jessica had gone to pick Kev up told him they were going for a nice dinner someplace. She ended up bringing him to the place were everyone was. (Yes we yelled suprise :lol: ) Once Jessica and Kev arrived the party really started. There were alot of very good looking girls and this party but like always I didnt have the courage to walk up and start a conversation. It's really sad actaully that I'm so scared of women. (I dont think I'm a bad looking guy. I've just never had the confidance to talk to girls)

I spent alot of the night just standing around, catching up with some old friends that I havent seen since highschool. We all seperated after an hour or so of talking to go see other people. I just stood there for awhile looking around the room and I see this very attractive girl come towards me. She actaully started talking to me. I was shocked. It's very rare that a girl will stop and actaully take time out of her day to talk to me.

"I haven't seen you around before. Are you a friend of Kevins?" I could feel my face start to burn and I tryed to respond but got all tounge tied. Very embarasing thats for sure. I finally got out what I wanted to say "Yeah, I've known him most of my life." We told each other our names then we talked for another 30-45 minutes and I really enjoyed myself. She then said she was going to go see a few people and she'd come see me again later in the night.

I thought I blew it at this point and just sat down and did nothing for a good hour and a half. But then I saw this same girl comming towards me. We picked up where we left off and talked late into the night. The party started to cool down around 1 AM people were calling cabs and what not. I was not drinking that night and told her "Well I'm going to go home now, I'm tired" Before I could start walking she said "Arnt you going to ask me for my number!!!" I ended up getting her number but it was pretty akward.

I've got her number. But I dont know what to do next. I'd take her on a date but I cant see myself keeping her pleased during the date. I'll likley run out of things to talk about and that sure will be akward.

GAH!!!!!! IF ONLY I COULD SLAP YOU!!!!!! I'm late for school but I'm taking time JUST to reply to you, because I HATE seeing this happen to seemingly cool guys.

I want to cry. Call her dude! Come on! Call her, and tell her you're not sure what you can fit into your schedule, but if you have time sometime next weekend (call the Friday of this week) you'll give her a buzz and you'll take her someplace. Don't be a pussy with what you'll do, either. Take control of the situation and tell her where you'll take her. Do everything you'll say you'll do, gotta have that sense of integrity.

Don't kiss her on the first date.

Don't stick around, either. Keep them short, she'll keep wanting more. If you're at her house, only stay there for like.. 15 minutes, then be like "k, I gotta run." It'll be great.

I suggest you call her a few days in advance of when you'd like to take her out, and then take her on a relatively SHORT date. Lunch or coffee (or something similar) works well for me because you can easily cut it short if things aren't going well. (You can keep all your dates on the short side until you feel more comfortable.)

It seen good that she gave you her number. I now relax and call her in a few days. Next time you go to a party you really need to be more social people were propelerely feeling bad for you but i guess not too bad if she got a women number

Call her immediately, you big freak. You won't run out of things to talk about. If you're actually worried about that, take her to a movie, where talking is unacceptable anyway. (IMO- lame first date, but do what you gotta do.)

Having a good looking, nice woman approach you is like winning the lottery. It doesn't happen every day. Cash in that ticket.

Yes that sounds fine to me. Dinner could be awkward if you don't have much to say, especially since dinners can drag out when you're waiting for you order etc. I suggest going out for coffee like someone else said, that way if it's not going to plan you can cut it short - but if you're comfortable enough to stick around after coffee then maybe you two can go off and do something else!!
Don't be so scared, clearly she was interested in you and you seem to be interested in her, so go for it.

Coffee does sound like a much better idea. There is a nice place around my area that I could take her to. It's connected to Chapters (book store) it's actaully a nice setup.

You can tell a lot about a person by the type of books/magazines they are interested in...

And by the way they do their nails, address the waiter/waitress, etc. Look that shit up, but be weary of the bullshit.

I read somewhere that you can tell specifically depending on whether or not they're trimmed neatly and clean, whether or not they're nicely painted, if they're painted but it was half-done because it's several weeks old, etc.

Might be bullshit, who knows.

Hmm... I guess highly stylized fingernails might indicate a higher-maintenance girl. I never really thought about it.
