ok so i have a crush on a girl in my class, i was wondering if its "okay" to ask her (online) to maybe go to the movies, and get to know her a bit more. And how should i go about telling her that i like her?
other than the plain and direct "i like you" phrase
how should i start it off? should i like compliment her more before doing so?

I think you should only ask her out online if you plan to date her online.
You need to experience asking girls out face-to-face, because that is what men do, and one day you will be a man. It is scary the first few times, but you will get used to it and it won't be so bad. Expect to hear "no" on a regular basis. Dating is a numbers game; if you ask enough girls, one will eventually say "yes".
