Internet Relationships

I'm sure you guys get these all the time. But here's my situation.

I met a girl on myspace around the end of January, she added me and sent my a message on February 14th. I messaged her back and we talked for awhile. She asked me if I wanted to play Halo 2, (we both like video games) I said sure. We talked the whole time while we played each other, and we've done this next few days, playing together for hours on end just talking back & forth to each other. Laughing at the same stupid stuff, talking about our lives and such. She seems a lot like myself, we share the same sense of humor. We've been chatting back and forth on myspace since then, and it's been great. We seem like a perfect match.

But much like most internet relationships, there's the challenge of long distance. I live in North Dakota, she lives in Indiana, there is a distance, but not too extreme at least. I'm seriously thinking about taking a train down this summer to see her for few days, I can afford it, I can take the time off of work, we both really want to meet each other in person.

We both are physically attracted to each other, personality wise we connect, I can see it working. But this distance thing, worries me. I'm going to college after this summer, and plan to be there for two years. I'd just like to hear what you think of my situation. If possible from someone who has had a similar experience to me. Thanks!

By the way, I live in south dakota. i'm from ohio, and I ****ing hate it. how can you live with it?

I've been in your situation 3 times. One was with a girl that was a 3 hour drive from my town in ohio. I still haven't met her. That was 5 years ago. The other was with a girl in colorado. I might get to meet her during my class trip, since we're going to denver, but i'm not interested in her anymore, because I've found women here that I like.

As for the 3rd woman, she gave me pictures of herself, we talked on the phone for a few months. we 'fell in love' not. I didn't know what love was when I was that young. I found out (through one of her backstabbing friends) that she didn't look like the hot sexy blonde in the pictures she gave. she was a heffer with buck-teeth. she also does drugs and stuff. I completely dropped all contact.

I think that it's more convenient for you to date women around your location, but if you really want to go through all that misery and shit, go ahead. I mean, whatever makes you happy. Just don't take any intimate relationships very seriously at this point in life.

I like living in a small town, you have a lot of freedom up here to do what you want. And South Dakota is the better state out of the Dakota's! LOL. Been there, beautiful state.

Yes, I'm a senior, no, I don't work during my school year, I work in the summer at the college I'm going to, I was a janitor. Work from 6-3 everyday last summer, loved it. Was a good challenge for me. No I didn't clean toliets, we shampooed carpets, washed walls, scrubs floors, all pretty simple stuff.

Defiantly confirmed that she is a "heffer". There's no one around here really. At least not in my town. Seriously. Our graudating class is 9 people. 500 people in my town. College I'm going to the guys out number the girls 3-1. Yeah, it's sad really. haha.

If I want a girlfriend, I have to look in other towns. It's hard finding someone to be with.

Oh dear god, I feel for you. My family has a cabin in the mountains nestled a stone's throw from a town that size. I can't imagine what it must be like growing up in a place like that. What do you do for fun?

There are schools around here that are nearly that small. My town is only twice as large as yours, but my graduating class has 23 people. There's hardly anything to do. Yes, it's beautiful, and i've never been to ND.

What college are you going to? I'm considering USD for a bachelor in art to later be continued out of state for a masters.

I recommend you wait until you go to college to date somebody. (it's what I'm doing) I know how you feel about the women situation; the women at my school are very slutty and very immature. I just got out of a relationship with a girl from this town (2 years) who was very manipulative and very immature. I wasn't happy.

You should find someone that you're somewhat physically attracted to. Love isn't all about looks, but it's nice to have someone that looks decent.

I play video games a lot, I spent around $1600 on 360, HDTV, & surround sound last summer, haha. Also I love to drive my car. It's fun to just cruise around our small town for couple hours. Besides that, football games & basketball games are fun to go to. A LOT of people drink, but I don't feel the need to. Doesn't seem like a good time to me.

I am going to Minot State University, Bottineau campus. That town is a bit bigger then mine, but again, only around 2,000 people. There's a lot more guys there for hockey & basketball, I believe it's 3-1 men to women average. I don't like those odds personally.

Like I said, I'm very physically attracted to this girl, that's not an issue like it is say with just chatting with a person in a chatroom, Myspace does wonders with meeting new people. ;)

We've talked on a level where we were just ourselves sharing a common interest. Playing a video game together. Very much like Pure Pwnage, WoW is a feeling, if anyone watches that also.

It's totally up to yourself whether you go for it. North Dakota to Indiana? well boo-hoo, I'm more than three times as far from my long distance BF, and in different countries. Plus I bet your train ticket doesn't cost $700? But that's just me.
Whether you should/could do this has little to do with the distance, but with whether you're the type of person who can maintain a long distance relationship.Nobody can answer that for you but you. Good luck :D

Well Tiay, that does make me feel better, haha. Sorry to hear there's such a large distance between you & your boyfriend. Hell, I'm willing to keep myself for her for couple years. Until college is done, then possibly move there or something. Just so I can be close to her. Thanks!

Be very careful before you decide something like this. If you're talking "normal" college, 4 years is a good while, especially when you (and she?) will be coming in regular contact with other attractive individuals on a regular basis.

And I'm not just talking physically attractive either.

It's only 2 year college. I know I won't have a problem with it, as long as I know she will save herself also. But that's when distance plays in. I won't always know about her 100% It's pretty much impossible. :upset: I believe it will be fine.

Hopefully we'll keep in good communication like we are now for the next few years.

What's nice about the career I'm going into is there's opening eveywhere. I would be happy working anywhere as long as I'm doing what I love.
