Where's the fire?!
I have this... quirk. More than once I've sprung from bed in the middle of the night, flung my bedroom door open, and raced to grab the fire extinguisher... only to realize I'm not in the midst of a goddamn blazing inferno. It's happened two or three times now and it's pissing me off.
It's really upsetting because I go from deep, dead-to-the-world sleep, to wide-awake adrenaline surging mania. When it happens there's no going back to sleep. It really sucks because I have a huge exam tomorrow that I'll need to study for until the wee hours of the morning, but I only got about three hours sleep last night. Errgh.

From my dream analysis book:
"The dreamer is fascinated with fire, but not admitting to it. Fear of too much internal fire."
Alternative interpretations are "yearning for inner fire or passion" and "accumulated urges".
-
lol. i had scary recurring dreams like that too. the only way i've ever stopped is talking to someone. someone that you might have to pay like a therapist or something. lol
-
I don't think I'm any more fascinated with fire than the next guy, unless I'm self-deceived. Yearning for inner fire or passion? Huh... That's an interesting one. What's the book called, by the way? I'd be interested in checking it out.
And I don't suppose it mentions zombies, does it? Because if I'm not dreaming about fires I'm dreaming about zombies. Or quite often zombies crawling through fire.
-
Nothing is listed under "zombies". Can you give me a synonym? I haven't had enough coffee to think clearly yet.
Dream symbol books are in all bookstores, often next to the horoscope stuff. I don't really buy into dream anaylsis, but it is entertaining.
-
Yeah, me neither. But it's kind of like taking those goofy online tests and reading results that maybe, but not quite, apply to you.
Uuuhh. Undead? Walking Corpses? Ghouls?
-
You know what the strange thing is, 'Sombra? It isn't even quite a dream. I don't wake up with any recollection of what was going on inside my head. I just leap out of bed and my mind is screaming FIRE FIRE FIRE!!! DO SOMETHING!!!
Can you imagine that? First time you ever sleep with a guy and at the crack of dawn he's dragging you out of bed, screaming there's a fire! Hahaha.
-
lol. one time i was asleep and my friends cat was sleeping next to me, well the cat just started freaking out, shadow clawing, hissing and meowing really loud. lol he had night terrors, freaked me the hell out.
-
hehehe...
Corpse: Disconnected personality or emotions. Warning signal: you are carrying something foreign - something that is dead - around with you. If these dreams appear frequently, it would be a good idea to consult a therapist. This is a frequent dream of women when they are oppressed. On the other hand, the dream symbol may suggest putting an end to something, letting go of it.
Walking: Making progress in life under your own power, slow but steady. How you walk is a clear indication of your present situation. A dark walkway may point to helplessness.
Wow, Gribble - you are nuts. :D
Just for fun, I looked up gerbil:
Emotional functioning and sexuality are made trivial, diminished, and viewed from a distance. As children are given guinea pigs as pets, and they build up a relationship with them, here guinea pigs/gerbils represent the beginning stage of the development of emotional functions.
-
Okay, that book is spooky. Especially the gerbil thing...
According to it I'm helpless, brooding, and I have the emotional capacity of a first grader. Go me!
-
That's okay. You are only slightly more crazy than anyone else.
-
By the way, I like that avatar, Vashti. Too bad it doesn't show some leg.
-
My dreams usually involve me trying to get away from something.
Or feeling some kind of pain.
One dream I was getting stung my jelly fish, and my legs were hurting in those specific areas when I initially woke up.
The other was when I was trying to get away from these "agents", I was jumping over sharp barbed wire fences, and my hands were numb in the palm when I woke up.
-
Is there anything in your life that is making you feel trapped?
