Was breaking-up the right choice?

I broke up with guy because I felt that the relationship was very one sided (me doing most of the work)and it was causing me a lot of emotional pain. When I broke up with him he told me it was because he was very busy with many things in his life right now. And like me, his parents do not approve of him dating so that was also causing him difficulty in meeting me. He isn't a very romantic person so it creates an impression that he just isn't very serious about the relationship. However, a guy friend told me that if a guy likes a girl, he would be romantic. Is this true? There are many attractive qualities I like about this guy so that is why I have difficulties in getting over him. Sometimes I think maybe I wasn't being understanding and was very impatient (we only dated about 1 month before I decided to break-up with him). Was breaking up with him the right choice?

a month isn't very long to be expecting 'romantic' type of gestures. i am often shy and mysterious at the beginning of a relationship.

what kinds of things were you having to 'work out', if you choose to answer? with what you've provided, yea i think you handled yourself okay. for a future in your love life, here's a tip: learn to be patient and persistent. there will be many times when you will depend on these qualities.

What do you mean by "things I was to 'work out' "?

well, like how was the relationship one sided? did you have to pay for all the dates or something?

No..he doesn't really ask me to hang out all that much. Like I said..how he had difficulties meeting me with the parent issue. However, I said it was one sided because I was making all the moves on him (the one who asked him out, initiating most conversations, romantic gestures, etc).

I think you should hold out for a more romantic guy. They're definitely out there- just read some of the threads here, and you'll see.
