What if You Were Free?

What would you do if you suddenly had no responsibilities?

No school, no debt, no family, no relationship. No pain of loss, just that they suddenly...weren't there.

A few thousand in the bank, not enough to travel much, and a month-to-month furnished rental.

Would you stay right where you are and start entangling your life with others immediately? Would you move to a new place and do something completely different?

Would you go work in a SCUBA rental place in the Caribbean? Become a ski bum in Utah? Go pick up some hottie in a bar and have a wild night?

I would move closer to one of my sisters and take a job working in the hospital. Then I would date, but never get married. I like having my kids, though, so I'm not sure how that would work since I strongly prefer the idea of raising kids in a traditional household.

i think i would be a backpacker or something since they typically try use the least amount of money as possible and move across the country. then i'd return and get a job or something lol.

Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Not much would change for me. I would just find a job so I can have a quality of life I want. Go back to school so I can continue learning. Continue seeking relationships, playing my guitar and having fun along the way.

I would go on an adventure, like the kind you read about.

I'd go to Southeast Asia and not come back until I was broke.

haha I would become a professional philosopher in a country estate... or be some kind of high roller... I'm trying to do both by coming to business school...

i'd live on a houseboat in the mediterranean.

It's funny, I became independent so that I could have the opportunity to become more co-dependent...

There was a time I believed it was better not to have loved and lost. That ignorance was bliss, and the pain wasn't worth the joy.

I still believe this.

But I cannot live by it any longer.

No, because I've crossed that line already. Once you cross, there's no going back. For so long as I am happy with her, I will not regret the risk.

Maybe if I loved her enough, I could never find regret.

Maybe if I loved her too much I could never fight free of it.

If it all just went away, I'd travel far and never fall again.
