ok so theres this guy who is friends with a bunch of my friends. he is always quiet and distant from me. i always go out of my way to say hi, but then he makes it awkward. since we're usually drinking. he waits till i've had a few drinks in me to actually really talk to me. and at the end of the night we always end up making out. and then its like a repeat from the begining again. is he afraid to talk sober?
Yes. Alcohol is giving him artificial courage.
Either that, or he is a real bastard that knows you are a sure thing once he gets a few drinks in you.
Maybe a couple of drinks makes you more attractive to him. Some guys aren't even interested in girls until they get a couple beers in them.
I hooked up with this girl for ages who left me cold sober but give me a few beers and I couldn't resist her allure. I can hear the cyber finger wagging already, but put those things away ladies I now know that's no way to behave.
But faith, I don't think it's the same with this guy. The fact that he's awkward and because you both sound about high school age, I actually think he just doesn't know how to talk to girls when he's sober. I was the same. I barely kissed a girl sober all through school. It pretty much the same for all of us, particularly round the 13-15 age bracket.
He's just taking advantage of you and when you are sober it makes it harder to do so.

haha i dunno if he thinks if you are ugly or not, but if he did, then he's regret it after the first time.
being that this bullshit still continues, you might want to talk to him about it... unless you're fine with putting up with bs.

People use alcohol too often as an excuse; pretending to be drunk, making it okay for them to do anything they want. That's how I see it, anyway.
possibly ... could be using it as an excuse that in case you end up rejecting him in the end, he could just say he was drunk ...
Plus, the effects of being rejected won't feel as bad either being half cut.
