It's a dead-end situation. Guilt/Sympathy can never be good foundation(s) for any relationship. The person who feels guilty/sympathetic will always carry the burden and be at the short-end of the stick. You will never be able to express yourself completely lest you might hurt your partner's feelings and eventually it'll lead to bitterness and most likely an ugly breakup or unhappiness.
haha so this post is supposed to be related to your other thread huh?? didn't enough people reply to your thread for you to draw your own conclusions about who and who doesn't return to their ex's because of guilt.

HAHHAHA no, it didnt work once what makes you think it would work again. yes i know people change blah blah blah, but by the time most people change enough you could have another great relationship started i think it is dumb to go back witha person you have already been with.

Hehe, yes it is related to my other thread. It seems stupid that people get back into relationships for guilt reasons, but I personally know of 11 people who have gone back into relationships for those reasons, 5 of them being friends of mine. Why do they? It's stupid if you ask me, and no good could ever come out of something that's built on bad foundation.
I blame bad parenting.
I think most people have to learn this lesson at some point. The fact is, though, that pity is not a big aphrodisiac, and it's not something strong enough to keep people together for long.
I did once when I was a teen. It lasted... 3 more weeks and we just didn't talk to each other any more.
Don't look back...don't reenter.
I did reenter one relationship but only because I needed her to stop showing up at my place of work demanding an explanation on why I broke up with her. I dated her again and then slowly pushed her away...she took it better that way...she felt like she'd maintained her dignity at least.
