contact with old friends and colleagues

i used to work in a town about an hour away from where i lived. i worked there for a year and when i left i only ever kept contact with one mature colleague. by this i mean she was married with kids, this was her career, and for me it was my first part time job.

its been a year and a half since i left that job and ever few months i'll drop her text to see how shes doing. but thats it. no other contact.i havent seen her since then either.

i keep thinking to ask her if she wants to go for lunch, but i think it would be weird becasue 1. she'll bring her kids (they're young)
2. we won't have much to talk about except work


is this one of those times where you just forget the person and move on? when i left high school and college i only kept in contact with very few special friends.

how easily do you loose contact with friends and associates?

even with advances like facebook i don't bother to keep in contact with them. on my facebook i have 23 friends. these are people i hold near and dear to me and would actually want to share my pics with and who would actually care about my status.

i'm just ranting.

I like keeping in touch with people, so I would go have lunch with her. Why not?

You could have lunch with her - you never know she could end up being a really good friend. Also, so what if she brings her kids? You could end up being their baby sitter if she sees you getting on well with them which means more money for you ;)

And I try to keep in contact with people and meet up with them, unless it's long distance then it's harder and I usually lose contact with them. But I don't tend to feel sad about that I just move on :)
