not sure how what to do

so my name is josh, i met this girl named rachel at the begining of the school year (junior year of high school). we had a blast in chem class together and always talked, flirted a bit. it was a lot of fun. at the time, we didnt really hang out outside of school, and she was fun, but i never really thought of her as more than a friend, not like it was a bad thing, i just never considered it. she got a boyfriend pretty early into the year, and that never really bothered me. i had a little relationship soon after she got a boyfriend. i was pretty lonely the rest of the year and started to wonder if i did like rachel. ive had a best friend named matt since i was in kindergarten. although we werent the closest friends ever, we always would hang out and it was fun always having someone to hang out with and pass the time. right at the end of the school year, he moved 2 hrs away. although this didnt make me all that sad, it left me extremly bored constantly. just after i learned that rachel had feelings for me just before she got into that relationship which she is still in now. the main point of this is that right when it was summer, i was bored and lonely a lot and got a lot of time to think about how much i was starting to like rachel. she called me up and wanted to hang out with me, and we started hanging out a lot over the summer. her, her friend kayla and me would all go hang out all of the time. rachel and i have a ton in common and she really makes it seem like she does like me. im pretty sure she knows that im absolutly crazy about her but it seems like she hints that her and her boyfriend are not breaking up anytime soon. im worried about telling her how i feel especially because she is basically my best friend right now, and if i didnt have her to hang out with even as a friend, it would kill me. this leaves me wondering, if i should tell her how i feel, what to do to pass the time, and how to get her out of my head. thank you soooo much for anyone who even took the time to read this because i know its a lot, and especially to any responses.

She told you that she isn't breaking up with her boyfriend anytime soon so telling her isn't going to really accomplish anything right?

You seem to be stuck between wanting to hang out with her, because she's a good friend and wanting to move on because you are lovelorn for her. Get out there and start mingling with other people so you can make more friends. I don't think it's good to have a best friend that is a constant reminder of unrequited love. You don't have to completely cut off the friendship, but I think it would help you get over her if she weren't your only friend.
