Why can't i get myself a Girlfriend?

First of im 17, and ive never had a girlfriend. Now im a nice guy who i pretty shy and from what i hear from some girls as quite attractive. Yet girls arent all that interested in my but if they are then i dont do anything about it because i dont know about it. ( i suck at reading girls body language etc...). I had my chance to get a hot girl with a great personality at the start of this year at school because i was told by her friends that she liked me... But i waited too long as ive never asked a girl out before and she got a boyfriend..... I know 17 doesnt sound like very old but its embarrasing to be asked for my parents and friends if i have a Gf to take to the ball and i so no. Next year is another ball so if i dont have one by then my self confidence will be at an all time low...


Can anyone show me any advice/tips... Also there is a veeerryy attractive new girl at my work (which is a place with the majority being girls). I havent talked to her apart from the hey hi howz it going sort of thing, dont know her name and dont know how old she is (im guessing 18/19).

High school is a giant pool of people trying to find their identity. Guys are lifting weights and working on their bodies and girls are trying to look as good as possible for the guys to stare at. Its a big game and no one knows whats going on.

Learning to read the opposite sex's body language is just another part of the game. Girls in high school don't always know how to convey to a guy that they like them and vice versa. The best thing you can do as far as dances is pick a girl you want to go with, make sure she knows who you are so that you're not just a total stranger, then think of a creative way to ask her to go with you.

Look, don't stress over not going to Prom or whatever dance it is, the only one that really matters and that you *might* remember would be senior prom...all the other ones are a joke. Girls generally say yes, they are just waiting for a guy to ask them to go, you have nothing to lose by asking.

Like I said, don't fret, dances are pretty stupid when you look back at them, so don't get wrapped up in worrying about it. I have to stop and think to remember what I did for prom and I am only 21.

A good way to get yourself on the board game of love mate is doing it over the i-net. Take a realy good picture of yourself and sign up to a dating site. Message some girls asking for a chat etc.. It will get your confidence up if nothing else. And it will make it ALOT easier to speak to girls IRL.

So do u have any friends that are girls at all?
if not i'd start with that, find girls just to be friends with attractive or not just to get comfortable with the idea of being with females. Because if u try to move too fast you'll probably get nervous and not know what to do.

Grow a spine, and ask them out. Duh.
