Girlfriend acting distant?

It pretty much summed up in the title, as many of you know I will not see her for 9 months, but suddenly she has started acting distant she answers If I call her but won't call me, doesnt write me anymore and it just seems odd. I'm thinking I will just stop calling her as well, it seems like a recipe for a slow death to the relationship but Im not going to carry more than 1/2 the load in this thing and im not going to play "whats wrong, do you love me, are we okay?" to hell with that, but If im missing something here, if maybe I should think about it a little deeper than its face value let me know

Why waste time with slow death when you can just talk and be done with it?
