Moral issue
I've just been to a family event, I met relatives I havn't seen for many many years, and I saw a vision of absolute beauty at the party, the exact appearance and character etc of the girl of my dreams, really fancy her like mad. The dilemma is she's my cousin! Damn! is this wrong? how wrong? should I walk away? ouch! by cousin I mean my father's sister's daughter.:horror:
-
Hahaha, you're going to be on Jerry Springer some day.
-
Um, that mean's she's your first cousin. And unless you're both into kinky incestuous relationship stuff, you'd better walk away.
In all reality, if you two got together, you'd most likely be dealing with a lot of backlash from family, friends, and society in general. If that's something you want (along with potentially messed up kids), then have at it. Although it's no guarantee she wouldn't be repulsed by the idea of dating her cousin.
I dunno. I'm not one to throw stones at people for their life choices, but you should really think about this. In my opinion, the cons far outweigh the pros.
-
doppelgaenger thanks for your really helpful advise! not.
lahnnabell, yes I agree, kids wouldn't be an issue anyway but family backlash etc yes, best walk away, wonder if there's a double anywhere!
-
Yeah, going after your FIRST COUSIN is definitely a no-no. If I were you, I wouldn't even attempt it.
-
Don't do it. Once the infatuation wears off (and it certainly will), you will never be able to attend a family event again without this being an issue. Think long term - your future wife and kids will have to deal with the aftermath.
Bad idea.
-
There are other countries in the world where it is not only accepted, but expected. Still, just the risk of crossing that boundary to begin with--she very well may not be interested for obvious reasons-- may be too potentially devastating to warrant the attempt.
Best of luck!

once you heard the word "cousin" that should've been enough of a red flag... do you want more internet bashing from total strangers??

Did you really need to ask this question on the Internet? I'm pretty sure you knew the answer before you typed it. A release perhaps?
-
I always have the weirdest first questions come to mind.
How in the hell have you never met your dad's, sister's kids before? Like you have never seen pictures much less met them in person?
The second thought was; "No-no, bad idea, this only happens in the DEEP south."
