Help ! I'm falling in love with my best friend
I met this really great guy at work and he's since become my best friend. We get on so well, can talk for ages and thoroughly enjoy each others company. Lately we've been developing stronger feelings for each other but neither of us will pursue those because he is already married, and we do not wish to do anything immoral, or destroy his family. I feel so bad because this is the first time in my life a really great guy has been interested in me - I've never had a boyfriend before.
There's nothing wrong with me, I just seem to be unlucky in relationships - always falling for the wrong guy, getting taken advantage of by so called 'friends', or simply miss out due to bad timing.
My friend is so caring and attentive, I never knew any person could be that kind.
How do we move past these growing feelings we have and still keep our friendship?
He is the first person in my entire life who has been a genuine friend to me and I don't want to lose that.
Hold Back Your Feelings For A While
Hi cairenn13,
I can empathize with you because I have seen this situation happen from very close quarters.
Besides the risk of you becoming a home-wrecker, think of what you will do to the guy's wife's heart.
Since this was the first time you came across someone who is a genuine friend, you ought to take him as "the first in a series of such friends". Somewhere, down the line, is the guy who is not previously attached, and is therefore The One for you. Keep your chin up, and keep looking.
Best,
R.
