Girlfriend has changed

Since going on holiday it's come apparent to me my girlfriend isn't as loving no more. Before I'd give her kisses and cuddles in public, even if no one is around and she'd love it, cos' to her it showed I loved her, but now whenever I do she shrugs me away and goes "Mike! Stop it!". Before I'd blast my music off this little laptop, where you can't hear **** all but static, yet now she moans at me about it being too loud and how it disturbs other people. Which ****ing confuses me cos' half the time ****ers here in the hostel have the TV blasting and ****ing chinese karaoke next door loud enough to shake the roof off. I get the vibe off her the sweet I love you's have become nothing but a tedious task you have to say back, which most of the time I initiate. We recently just got tattoos of eachothers name on our wedding finger and I love it to death, but wonder maybe it was mistake? Maybe I was hoping once I got it things would change for the better? **** knows. Now I find myself just mentioning her ex **** buddy to annoy her because I'm starting to find no pleasure in saying nice things when she doesn't appreciate it. Which is ****ed up cos' everything I do is for her, even subconciously I'd do something ignoring what I want to make her happy and it goes unappreciated. I have no ****ing idea what to do, I've told her this and here shes goes again "not this shit again". So then I think it's in my head, being depression and shit. But no, I'm totally convinced it's not. I'm also finding myself snapping at her now cos' of how she makes me feel, but she still mentions nothing and brushes it under the rug. What. The.****.Do.I.Do? I want things to be good but I even know a one sided relationship will never work.

Perhaps your relationship is going through rougher times because you're on vacation together all over Asia? Is this the first time you've spent a significant amount of 24/7 time with each other?

I tell ya ... When people don't have a breather to themselves, especially when they're trapped in a foreign country, they'll take out their frustrations on the only one they feel most comfortable with ... because they feel they can act that way.

Relationships aren't going to be sweet forever ... Sure, moments will come and go as you progress, but don't expect it all the time.

This time, responsibility (to survive in Asia) and acceptance (of each other's nature) are key to your relationship for the moment. Those two pressures aren't involved in the initial "lovey dovey" stage ... and when you get back to UK, you'll then have your ventilation paths open again ... Right now, you're stuck dealing with each other.

Just get through all of this and think that you might just be feeling trapped because of the new setting. I know I went nuts being in the Philippines with none of my friends around ... I had nowhere to run when I got irked ...

I think what you describe is normal evolution of a relationship Kie. I love yous become redundant and a chore, people become more irritated with each other and the routine starts to squeeze the life out of the relationship. It looks like you are in that "What I was thinking" stage that Indi was talking about. It's probably time to have a bird's eye look at the relationship, have a chat about reciprocation and see where changes can be made for it to work.

How long have they been together though? Isn't it a few months or something?

I'm not sure, but I know they're traveling Southeast Asia together and that could be the cause of some of the problems.

Well I think if it's only been a few months and that behavior is coming out already then that's not looking too good. I think it's a tad bit too early for such an evolution, if only months in that is.

I agree with Shorty. Assuming you are traveling together, I think this may be a byproduct of having intensive amounts of time together with no breaks. Maybe you guys can give each other a bit of a break from time to time? I don't know how you spend your time while traveling, but for example, if she wants to go shopping, you can tell her you'll meet up with her in 4-5 hours, and then go off and do your own thing.

I would like to shake you for the tattoo, though.

See that's the thing, me and her have never spent anytime away from eachother since we hooked up. Apart from 1 day! She moved in with me after 2 weeks.

We've been together for 9 months.
