NEWS / girl learned about family's murder on facebook

Australia is in the news again.

This is a horrifying story out of Australia... 15-year-old Brenda Lin's family was murdered while she was overseas on a school trip. The worst part, she learned about their deaths from a Facebook post.

Min and Yun Li "Lilly" Lin, their sons Henry, 12, and Terry, 9, and Brenda's aunt Yun Bin "Irene" Yin, were bludgeoned to death while asleep at the family's home in North Epping, Sydney, on July 18.

A friend apparently posted the news on Brenda's Facebook page. Brenda had been due to arrive home from a one-week school trip to New Caledonia on July 20, but as a result of the news, the group returned a day earlier.

Here come the bans again.

I hope fence posts and canara logs aren't targeted. I like what little privacy and warmth they are still legally sanctioned to afford.

They'll tell us, that as sheep, we can have both privacy and warmth by staying well centred in the flock as the Blue Heelers let the dingos pick us off one by one.

ah c'mon you know the internet and facebook is so on their list and every other countries list btw, it's inevitable.

wtf man.. what is up with australia.

i remember that there is some issues with the indian.. it seem they are not welcome and india advising the students not to go australia for degree study.

And now another murder case after the recent one?

If you fly into Australia, just be prepared to have them spray you & the inside of the aircraft cabin with several cans of Raid (Doc, you must just love coming back each time). Bring a mask or a blanket to breathe through. You have to sit there for 10 min afterward (baking if summer) while the insecticide kills whatever bugs might be in your luggage. Weird.

There are some other strange policies, esp for airlines & pilots (that make no sense based on the flight timing), but otherwise, its a great country. Absolutely beautiful.

Is that what the spray stuff is? I didn't even get the slightest irritation, thought it was some mild air freshener or something.

Indians by nature, and particularly young Indian male students, are not what you would consider a very brave or secure people. In Melbourne and Sydney, these students alongside students from every other nation come and go from school, work, and whatnot all hours of the day and night with the expectation that no one will notice their bling, laptops, etc at a train station late at night or early in the morning, and that these students tend to be scared pushovers who never stand up for themselves.

What happened many months ago was that a number of Indian students insisted that they were being victimized and it was the fault of the Australian Government for not in essence, giving them 24/7 personal protection, and making special arrangements for them as international students.

Student unions screamed up and down about victimhood, the media jumped on it, and the public servants saw another issue to grandstand on and wank itself.

Because Australia is worried that their lucrative overseas student cash flow is going to dry up, they've appeased wherever they can.

It's been noted that the criminal element actually doesn't tend to target any one group... merely the potential for goods or profit and who's available, students from Asia Minor always being around.

It's all really laughable to me.

International students are in cities all around the world, cities much larger and far more dangerous than in Australia. In fact, these international students from India would have far more problems carrying on their business as they do in Australia back in India.

I myself trapse through ghettos quite often with a large laptop bag, noticeably different genetics to the populace, nice clothes, and a wad of cash in my pocket with virtually zero problems whatsoever.

Of course, I confront situations when they arise and if something goes bad, I accept the outcome without screaming like a silver spoon demanding a State polish.

Australia is weak.

I can't believe sometimes how they so wrongfully appease bad philosophy. This instance is just one of a long line that happen daily in Oz.

I wouldn't call all Australians "pussies", but rather I'd suggest that the majority of modern Australians have the emotional IQ's of middle aged chimpanzees, the spirit of a jellyfish, courage of a hognosed snake, dedication of a cane toad, and the educational mindset of a lemming.

No, she just refused to sell you something from HER store. Perfectly acceptable. You don't have the RIGHT to purchase whatever you like, wherever you like. You do have the right to boycott her store and tell others about your experience, but (right or wrong) she wasn't under any obligation to do anything for you. Per your own comments about responsibility.

On the other hand, if you had gone to a doctor (which you refused to do), they WOULD be under an obligation to provide you treatment.

Consistency, Doc. If you want to live your life the way you say, then you've got to allow others their rights as well. Her right was to NOT act, according to your values. No?

Now they need to ban bludgeonable objects to protect their citizens.
