Guy doesn't want to work.....

My friend has a bf who says he has a first degree in Medicine but would only be qualified with this degree to teach. He however, doesn't want to do that. So rather than going out and seeking a job, he stays at home EVERY DAY and smokes weed, EVERY SINGLE DAY. She doesn't live with him, thank goodness but is becoming quite frustrated with him just leaving his house to go get weed to get high. He claims he's afraid of failure and being a bum, but it seems he's heading in that general direction. I advised her to basically give him an ultimatum, either go out and look for work, or leave his trifling ass. She's confused because she really cares for him. They've been together for about 6 months.

Its only been 6 months, if the ultimatum doesnt work then id get rid. People dont tend to change and smoking weed every single day is quite a habit. In my opinion ...... drugs make people very selfish.

Speaking as a habitual daily smoker (when I can), he has to choose what's more important to him. Nothing wrong with being selfish, you get what you put in.

It's not so much that he smokes that she minds, it's more that he isn't trying to improve himself by working. All he seems to do each and EVERY day is smoke. Therefore whenever she sees him, she has to pay for everything coz he NEVER has any money.

Quick update - she hasn't yet told him, but she wants to break it off and she's stopped calling him and emailing him.
