How do I do the long distance friend thing.

Hi

My girlfriend went overseas about 2 moths ago for a year.
Now I love this girl very much and she loves me!
We decided to stay friends and see what happens when she comes back. But I am struggling to do this. Every now and then I catch myself crying on her shoulder about the whole thing. She some times does the same but not as bad as I do. She is handling It a lot better than I am.

I just want some advice how to do this? Don't tell me I shouldn't contact her any more cause she really means a lot to me and if we need to be friends for this year to maybe be together again I want to do it, but I need to stop crying like a baby every now and then.

We have been contacting each other basically ones a day per email and so on. Chatted on gmail maybe once or twice a week. We usually ended with a :* or <3 but decided to stop it yesterday.

Today I mailed her and asked her if we can chat on gmail but she never replyed, so I just gave her a mail telling her to enjoy the weekend and ignore my silly request. Its probably nothing but my mind is going nuts. Im also busy writing exams so Im struggling to concentrate !

Please any advice will do
