is this..wrong?wait?

alright so i work with a girl, and the question isnt if she likes me, i know she does. she stole my phone and put her number in it, messaged me on facebook, is always rather close to me when she stands by me. sounds good? well the girl is 17 and i went to high school with her(im started college this year(im 18.), shes a senior this year). i never talked to her cuz i thought she was a drunk whore cuz of the people she hung with(soon realized i was wrong, i had that high school mentality). Im sure she knows what i thought of her friends, and possibly her, im not sure if shes just ignorin it or not. Is this something i should wait on? wait for her to turn 18 before askin her out, and possibly talk to her more at work before i do and hopefully she never heard what i said, and/or show her i was dumb, cuz im hesitate to do anything with the possibility she could be playin me cuz she knows what i thought. some girls can be mean lol.

is this a do it and see what happens situation, or is it rather clear?

Do you want to date her? Then ask her out. She says yes, or she says no. Tell her you've come to think well of her. She believes you, or not. If she says no, it's not a big deal. You seem to think you will be annihilated if she doesn't respond to you. You won't. You'll just move on.

The only reason to wait until she's 18 is if you want to have sex with her. Until then, you would be guilty of a crime, called "having sex with a minor". Besides, you're both way too young for a serious relationship to be wise. You have many years of studies ahead of you. Date casually, have fun, enjoy growing up. I know you think you're a man of the world now that you're out of high school, but you're still 10 years below the median age for getting married. There's no reason to hurry and every reason not to.

For what it's worth, I got married at 19 and it was the dumbest thing by far that I ever did. Fifteen of the best years of my life down the toilet. Don't go there.

If you do want to date her - just date her.

There are plenty of possibilities, you can date on so many levels. It doesn't have to be the "romantic moon-lit evening stroll", just hanging out together, going to the mall to pick up ingredients to cook a meal can be fine.

You said it yourself: you don't know what to expect of her, so if you start hanging out more, just go slow and don't allow yourself to attach to much. First focus on getting to know her and having fun together - if that goes well and you like how things are (going) between you, you can always go 1 step further.

Have fun mon, don't take it all too seriously!
