if love is true it will bring us back

so I broke up with my bf a month ago, because we've known each other for four years in row online and was never able to save the money to meet and suddenly things fell apart..
We realized we need years and years before meeting , since he is studying and I'm older than him in four years ...
it hurt us both, we both are sad because you know its the one time love you think you can never meet like in your whole life...

Anyways, he said "if love is true and powerful, it will bring us back" those words seem powerful but also sad...I know I can push him to be a couple again but I know we wont be happy since its so lonely that way...

Do you believe that if love is true it will bring us back some day, or is it just a fairy tale?
