Help me pick a gift

I have a friend who is getting her own place for the first time and I wanted to buy her a house warming present. She is just a friend so it doesn't have to be anything like romantic I guess.

She pretty much has nothing...a bed, tv, lamp, and a couch.

I'd buy her some furniture but my god I'm not made of money...plus she is picky as hell about furniture...you know how wome....I mean...well she is particular.

Anyways a little about her, she is going to school to be a nurse, she has a 6 mon old daughter. I would describe her as a mix between hippie and punk in her style but she is pretty eccentric as well so even putting her in a category is like trying to put a feral cat in a car...her hobbies include, well actually her daughter takes up a lot of her time now but when she does have some time to herself she does enjoy reading....is drinking a hobby?...we're good at that one....um...oh she is addicted to king of the hill, moster energy drinks, porn, and shopping.

...I'm pretty much drawing a blank...I'd say I'm cool spending no more than 40.00.

A gift card is just to impersonal...I suppose I could just buy her some porn and energy drinks which she would find hilarious but I also kind of thought it would be nice to buy her something practical that she could use in her new place but not to practical that it was boring if that makes sense.

If she really doesn't have anything, then she will need stuff for her kitchen, and if you get her something she really needs, she won't find it boring.

I couldn't live without my coffee pot, and if she is in nursing school, she is going to need that caffeine.

Yea that is true...I didn't think about her kitchen...although I do believe her second home is Starbucks so she probably could use a coffee pot cause I don't know how much longer she will be able to afford those 30 million dollar cups of coffee now that she is paying rent and utilities.
