The accident
Something aboslutely terrible happened yesterday.
So we moved into this awesome loft in Downtown Denver a couple days ago, and I finally decided to take some time off school to unpack the boxes that were lying all over the place. BAD move.
There's this coffeetable with glass on top right next to the couch. I guess a little piece chipped off that glass when we were moving things, and I MANAGED to walk right into that chipped corner. At first I didn't even notice anything, I thought I just bruised myself...but then I looked down and to my very big *HORROR* I saw something absolutely terrifying. I almost fainted actually - I couldn't believe what I saw! I had a HUGE (!) SCARY (!!) WOUND (!!!) right on the left side of my left leg just below the knee!! I stared with disbelief with wide-eyed horror as blood started gushing out of parted (!) flesh (GROSS). I grabbed a piece of cloth and disinfected the wound and stormed out of the apartment to call Mike (my cell wasn't working). I ran to the Maintenance office but they were closed! I was so shocked I didn't know what to do so I ran to the lobby to use the payphone.
Luckily, on my way, I ran into some guy who took one glance at my leg and ran for help. I was escorted into the Ballroom (there's a ballroom in our building that belongs to the Magnolia hotel right across the street). There, the guy, Frank, wrapped a cloth around my leg and gave me his cellphone. I called Mike and asked him to get me to the emergency room immediately. I must've scared him out of his mind b/c he came in about 10 minutes, from all across the city. Frank and another lady Frankie were calming me down all along, and Frankie gave me hugs, which was really nice as I was freaking out!
In the emergency room they gave me a tetanus shot (which I never had before) and 10 really painful shots right into the wound. I was crying and screaming because it hurt BAD! Then they put 8 stitches on it.
I am absolutely terrified. It's really hot outside, but I can't even wear a skirt. I have the most awful-looking legs in the world, it's bad enough I get bruises if someone just touches me, but a permanent scar!!! I can't afford to have more scars, I have too many already (a giant scar from appendicitis, another one from falling down...and heck know how many more). I feel like a monster. It better heal well. :upset:

owie killa. damn, that had to hurt more AFTER seeing it. Just like a babys response time, they know they got hurt, but its the seconds after knowing, then wham! Happened to me too, nice scar on my knee area, broken glass went through the garbage bad and I didnt see it, felt it, but didnt look, til I felt something running down my leg, damn that was gross. But mine wasnt like yours. At least not that baad.
Hope youre feeling better soon, and dont know how to solve the scarring! Goodluck!!!

OMG!!! Now thats a freaky accident! Its good that you were able to get to the emergency room! Getting stitches is never a fun thing either. yuck.
When I was about 10, I fell down the porch outside my babysitters house. The front porch was concrete too. I managed to get a huge gash in my chin. I had to wait as my babysitter called my mom so she could take me to the hospital (the babysitter didn't have a car). We went into the childrens emergency and I was crying and screaming. The nurses had to hold me down because I was kicking all the doctors . lol. Then they did the needle thing and stitched me up. My mom almost fainted at the sight of blood (she's never been good at that. I always had to fix up dad when he got into accidents too). I still have a small scar on my chin today. The thing I remember most is getting an orange popsicle just before I was sent home. hehe. :)

As far as the scarring goes, you'll learn eventually to live with it. I have horrible (read: HORRIBLE) scarring on my chest and back from acne. But now I'm fine with it. I don't even care cause I've accepted that it's a part of me and it AIN'T going away. You'll do the same. Maybe not next summer, maybe not even the summer after that, but eventually.

I say amputate the leg.
