how to approach this guy?

Hi all, I am new here. My dad's long time friend has a son that is VERY successful and handsome, and my dads friend always says how he wants to set me up with him. My parents have asked if I am interested in meeting him...but at that time I said no because of other interests.

I would like to at least meet the guy cause he sounds interesting. But at the same time I don't want to tell my parents that I would take them up on the offer due to a very long story...(too much to tell, but basically I dont want them in on this!)

I have found his facebook...but it seems creepy to add him and say "My dad knows your dad, lets talk" Any ideas on other ways to do it?

Try to start a friendship with him by adding him in facebook but with no pics. Then, start a nice conversation or chatting with him for a long time , and just be nice with him so he will get drawn to you little by little.

Give him a message and a bump on the head "hey..wanna talk?"He'll answer yes for sure ;)

Couldn't you meet him without anyone "setting" you up?

Yeah I guess I could meet him without anyone setting us up...I just don't want him to think I am a stalker!

Hmm...you could add him as a friend with a note or something saying, "Do you happen to be John Doe's son?" If he replies just say something like, "I've heard a lot about you, nice to put a face with the name. Your dad is such nice/funny/friendly guy." A little ass kissing never hurts to get a conversation flowing.
