not attracted to my girlfriend in a physical way

Hi,
I know this girl for about six months and recently broke-up with her because I realized I was not sexually attracted to her anymore.
However, since that day I am feeling miserable. I miss how she disturbed me at work, and how she made me feel important, how she never got angry. She is a very nice girl in all other aspects, quite pretty too and would be the perfect wife and mother. I'm confused. Did I do the right thing? I tried my best to feel sexually attracted to her but I don't think I will be able to do that. Could I have kept the relationship with just emotional attraction?

I would say you did the right thing. Emotional attraction gets expressed by physical love- my guess is that neither if you would have been happy in a relationship lacking the physical aspect. You miss her because you are in transition from being in a relationship to being single. Don't worry, you will find a girl whom you find emotionally and sexually attractive and she will also make great wife and mother!

No, You need a sexual attraction too, or it won't last.

You did the right thing. If you care for her you will let her find a man worthy of her - who is attracted to her. Don't feel guiltly, its normal and dont let guilt control your decisions in life. It never leads to happiness.

thanks for all the replies. I have been resisting the urge to call her and tell her how much I love her. I am still 50-50 about doing it though, as I have a feeling that I will feel stuck once we are together again.

It's difficult because she make you feel important, wanted and needed - and these are very basic human needs. But however a relationship is a little more than just being depended on. Sex and attraction is what makes a relationship or else you guys are just friends - and that's why you will feel stuck if you get back together and become restless, and worse (not that I am suggesting that you will) have an affair.

It's not fair on you or her to settle, just like you deserve to have someone who tick all your boxes, she needs someone who will appreciate her needs and want as well as fancy the pants off her.
