Fitting in at my new school is hard.

Hi love forum, I'm new here:P


I recently changed school, I am now in 12th grade, and the class I went to have been together since elementary school........
I have been to this class for some months now, and it seems that nobody is interested in me at all, nobody is speaking to me at all, and they all hang out in their own little groups so it's really hard for me to start a conversation with a girl in my class because they only hang out in groups with their BFF's... also I am a really shy guy and not slick, so it's especially hard for me to start a conversation with a girl in my class or even with guys, they also won't even speak with me, I am a total outcast in this school and it's really frustrating, I would really like to communicate with some of the girls but it's really hard because they always hang out in their groups and talk crap about others... but there are also some nice girls but they also hang out in groups with their BFF's... Also we almost never have any group assignments where I can easily communicate, basically the only way I can start a conversation with them is by straight up walking up to them and starting a conversation which I don't even know how to do, and they really don't seem interested in me either.....and I am a shy guy so it is especially hard for me.

So can you give some advice about how to start a conversation without looking weird...? TY.

firstly, i'm sorry you're having problems fitting in especially being of a shy nature. you seem to be mainly trying to get along with girls? is it cos you find it easier to talk to them in general? there's the standard ideas of going to an afterschool club and getting involved, going to the school library. also, ask your teachers if you can do more group activities, don't be afraid to ask for help, everyone has to at some point. :)

I find it harder to start a conversation with girls because I am of shy nature, and ofcourse I am interested in the girls because I am single. Also I'm not really a club person either, and there is nothing going on in the school library, everyone just hangs out in the hallways in their little groups and I am always alone. I'm not really interested in being in a group of guys but it be useful tho in getting me closer to the girls who I'm really interested in, if I wouldn't be a total outcast in my class. But I am alone almost all of the time.

i don't think you should think about talking to girls you're interested in before you find good friends so maybe your priorities are slightly wrong atm. concentrate on talking to the guys to make mates, girls can always come later. girls will see your personality shine through once you're comfortable around your friends so concentrate on making those at the moment.

There are only about 2 or 3 guys who I can talk to freely (even smoked weed with one) but this is the last year of school and these guys and girls all know eachother for like 10 years and are BFF's, I will never really be their mate, I am just interested in this one girl but she always hangs out in a group of BFF's and she is kind of shy too so it's extremely hard to start a conversation with her, infact she is the only person in my class who I haven't talked a single word with, with everyone else I have like spoke a few words in like giving a cigarette or in some kind of group assignment...But there isn't really a single girl in my class who I have had a proper chat with, not once. Basically I am only interested in this shy girl but I have no idea how to approach her and how to deal with her BFF's...
