Xmas present for my GF
I hope this will work for her. It's a jewellery box that I made in college 10 years ago - I made it using normal and blue dyed sycamore. The tray is solid Sycamore and the lining is blue velvet - it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever made. Comments?

It's a nice gift, and I think I've mentioned this before, but it's not really a personal gift. It's like, "Hey I made this 10 years ago for myself but now you can have it. Merry Christmas!"
Can you at least put some jewelry in it, or another small gift? Or maybe paint her name on it, carve a nice inscription into the bottom, or something? Don't let it appear that you just grabbed something off your shelf without putting much thought into it.

It' shard to guage its actual size, but I think it's lovely that you want to give her something so special to you. I agree it might be nice to put a piece of inexpensive jewelry in it - mostly so she knows what the box is intended for, though.

Hey Vashti. You made a funny. You said shard ainstead of hard. I thought that was funny.

you shouldnt need jewelry or anything materialistic and superficial to put in it to make it special ALTHOUGH you definitely need to complete it. complete it by putting a flower or a note youve written to her in it or something else youve made.
anyway, your craftsmanship and idea is beautiful and i hope she appreciates it.
i hope she gets you something just as beautiful this christmas! you deserve it.

It is a lovely jewelry box, but expect to get questions about who you made it for 10 years ago. Good luck.

Maybe once I get this electrical shit down, I'll take up cabinetry as a hobby. That's some really cool shit, you should be proud of yourself.
