asking guys out

what do you guys think about girls asking guys out?

to be honest, I am usually flattered and think it shows the lady in question to be confident and direct, two qualities i admire in people.

I figure if I like someone the why not just ask? I mean, sure there is the chance of getting turned down. BUT isn't it more important to find out if this might go anywhere. I've seen so many girls that have had crushes on guys and just sit around doing nothing and waiting for him to ask. That can mess with your emotions way to much. Especially if he ends up not liking you...

just be careful of who you ask, for safety and emotional reasons.

Well, personally, I love it. but i HATE rejecting girls. it gives me a tendency to say yes, u know? like what joe schmoe said, it shows she is confident and direct (which i crave in a girl).

the problem is, over where I live, it's considered slutty when a girl asks a guy out so nobody does it (god damnit..)

However LTskater (above poster) is 14. In high school it IS considered wierd, but if you're college age or higher, don't fear being considered "slutty" like he says because it's much more common and acceptable at an "older than high school" age.

Make it obvious enough so he asks you. If you're feeling brave or getting frustrated since he's a wussy then you do it. Then you can break up with him since he never bothered to ask you and you'rew the one who had to do it.

I think girls almost always are the ones asking guys out, guys are just the ones who have to verbalize it. The way it usually plays out is the girl drops some clues, plays with her hair, acts flirty towards said guy and he reciprocates by asking her out. The stigma associated with women asking men out is usually along the lines of, he wouldn't have asked her otherwise (because a) he's a pussy/slow, or b) she's not that attractive/too attractive, he doesn't dare/just a flirt, don't get your hopes up).

However, when a woman asks a man out it shows assertiveness and that there's a "level playing field" so to speak. There is no stigma in women asking men out in my opinion, if you want to make "the first move," go ahead and make it.

But how should i start it? We take the same class this semester and im attracted to him. We have some eye contacts but thats it.

Talk to him. Approach him and comment about something that is going on around you guys, something not class-related, and hold a conversation with him. If he's worth anything for dating, having a conversation shouldn't be too hard. If you sense a cool vibe, give him your number before you leave.
