My friend likes to say: " To get over one man you have to get under another" But does that really work? Im not interested in trying as I see it to be no solution nor do I think about it, nor does it appeal to me at the moment, nor does it seem like a healing step to take, maybe down, but up?

LOL, chiiiiiiillll , I was putting that out there because my girlfriend teasingly says that here and there (when my possibly bipolar now ex again bf would break up with me). And of course I have not the taste for another man when I have got it hard (teehee) for another! ;)
hahaha I've heard that quote before too! it's funny, and maybe works for some people, but I don't think it would for me. not for awhile anyways. right now, even spending time with other guys reminds me of why I liked my boyfriend in the first place and makes me miss him, so I don't think hooking up with another one would make me feel better... I'd probably just compare him to my ex and it'd make things worse at this particular point
OP, your friend is a needy nut job or ignorant at best.
My advice is for you to not settle, wait till you get over your current mishap (which you will in time), and then try dating someone that you have more in common with and like to be around.
Assuming of course you are sane (ish).
