The Florida keys
Been to the keys, want to go somewhere different.
removed because I misread original post.
Replaced with: Have you been to Tucson? I roadtripped through there and ended up staying for 5 days it was so gorgeous, plus in October it shouldn't be so hot.
Rent a cabin in Yachats, Oregon. The Oregon coast is beautiful, wild and largely volcanic.
Drive down the coast to Devil's Churn. Drive inland and south and inland to Crater Lake. Camping and fishing abound at the Siuslaw National Forest nearby.

Taos new mexico. Mountains and lots of other cool stuff.
Ha, I was going to suggest the Keys or Oregon as well. But, regards the Keys, have you been here:Quote:

Stunning snorkelling and diving and much better than the mainland. There are a few camping spots and its close to isolated in October. If you are considering, PM me for details.
Too rainy in Oregon, and I don't know when the fogs start coming in... I suggest New England. Leaf peeping.
Or California, of course... can't go wrong with California. There is something for everyone. Also, I like Arizona.
if you go to arizona and don't come to new mexico i will be sad.
That's a good idea. Fly into Boston and drive to the Cape. Lots of beautiful places to stay there.Quote:
