You have gone (Villanelle)

Uh, this is my very first post in this site, so I decided to add a poem about emotional distance and the battle to find it again.

A Villanelle.

What links we forged, on days when eyes were grey;
the truths we shared on nights when we were young,
the passions rose, but you have gone away.

Into the moon, you rose into the day,
which called to me, as well, in words unsung.
What hearts we forged, on days when eyes were grey.

I could not heed, would not, the cry to stray
apart from my right place, where my life’s strung;
the passions rose, but you have one away.

The distant hills which I now see arrayed
within my youth, I tasted with my tongue-
what links we forged, on days when eyes were grey.

I write within my memoirs of those days
when hope became our life. We spread among
the passions Rose, but you have gone away.

I follow now, upon the breeze, I’m raised
each handheld mark, I step upon theses rungs.
