the most incomprehensible decision

hi all

i have a real heart breaking decsion although i know in my heart is made . im a single parent of 4 amazing children eldest 27 with own family and children my daughter 24 2nd son at home 18 and daughter at home 14 yrs last year i had been with my partner for 2 yrs he got on with all of them and we planned to marry in june this year. in september last yr he went missing for 4 days in my car and subsequently tried to commit suicide and was found by the police and put in hospital for 4 weeks i was heart broken and didnt visit him as i believed he was seeking attention as previously he had led me to believe that. now we are back together as we love each other but my dad and my children are saying if im with him they dont want anymore to do with me im distraught ive devoted my whole life from the age of 17 to now im 46 this year to them am i being selfish to want to be with someone i love ?????

I have seen my mom go through so e stuff like this.
It's not that they dontwant youbto be happy, but beingbwith someone who is suicidal and would do anything for attention Is a little much, you never know how far that person will go, which could be one of there fears.
But I don't know the whole story so I'm not exactly sure on what to say.

Maybe they see something about being with this guy that you refuse to see. I suggest you get together and hear them out to get some perspective.
