Okay guys, here you go:
You have a female friend. You are close enough to share personal emotional stuff with her (e.g. shit about your GF, your job, your exes, your mom). How likely is it this girl is *just* a friend that you have no attraction to?

I think it's going to depend on the guy, quite frankly. There are guys who will become attached to the girl they want in this way, because they can't get a relationship with her. This is the next best thing for them. Then you'll have some who have genuine female friends - because that's who you can talk to about emotional issues, hangups, fears, etc. - and they'll genuinely understand you better than other men.Quote:

I think the first answer to the poll can be misleading - not being attracted at all to your best female friend doesn't imply that "you'll vent to anyone who'll listen"... most times it's quite the opposite!
I have several female co-workers that I and everyone else in my department vent to on the daily basis for at least the last 4 years. There's no attraction there what so ever. I don't find any of them physically or emotionally (or otherwise) attractive in the slightest. We only vent to each other because that's what friends do.
These are the other female friends I vent to, but am not attracted to over a long time period:
- Female friends from Uni
- Female friends from evening classes and other activities
- Female friends of my partner
- My music teacher and Yoga instructor
Yeah, I don't know how I do it, according to some it's impossible to achieve
I'm not physically attracted to my girlfriends at all. lol
Okay, so pick the poll choice that best describes this. If its a split, the results will show that. So far, its even, but only an N of 2.Quote:

As for the 1st question, I was being facetious (thx to Mish for getting this)
We need more guys to vote!!
I hate the fact we can't thx posts anymore. Actually, I've seen a couple beautiful women (not in real life) that I'd consider going lesbian for. At least to try. ;-)Quote:

Well, its 2:1 in favour of guys only e-sharing with their GF or those they are interested in.
We know that it's not impossible now ;-).
Noone said impossible (at least I didn't). There are exceptions to almost everything. LOL.

Well as I said in my vanished post, the fact that even just one man finds it possible to be friends with a woman he isn't attracted to proves that it's possible. Maybe not common, but possible :-D.
I wouldn't really share that stuff with friends, regardless of gender... except maybe work-related stress. If I have problems with my fiancee, we always talk about those in private and I would never share that with my friends! On the other hand, I'm in a very happy relationship and all my friends know about it because I'm a hopeless romantic whose got his fix :-)Quote:
