men and cars?!

i think i need a guys perspective. its still early early days for me and the guy i have been seeing so not sure how to approach him regarding it as i don't want to seem needy, but also don't want to seem like i aren't bothered or that he can walk all over me in the future.

basically, we have been seeing each other for about 6/7 weeks. for the first 4 things were great. we have a lot of commitments each (me as a single mum, him as a night shift worker) so weekends are the only real time we get to see each other unless things progress in the future. anyway, i went away on holiday and when i got back his car engine had broken. he is fixing it himself therefore only has the weekends to do it. Last weekend i helped him transport stuff to his borrowed garage and was meant to see him saturday night but he cancelled me at the last minute saying that he needed to get it done. this weekend he said it would be hopefully be done by today but it isn't. He has been really apologetic and says that he will make it up to me, and is missing me etc.

I know that he needs it for work, and is paying to rent a garage off someone but surely he could spend a couple of hours with me. Before the start of our relationship he has been single for about 8/9 years so is it that he forgot how to act in a relationship, is it that he is just using me for someone to be with when he isn't busy, or am i just being overanalytical and things can get back on track when it is fixed?

all i have text to him on the matter is that i am disappointed as i like spending time with him but i understand its important and if he needs any help with anything to let me know. he said he is sorry for letting me down and will make it up and is looking forward to seeing me. i have heard ffrom him everyday in general chiit chat terms.

so what do i say/do and is it gonna be hard to pick up where we left off as i am going to be worrying about how far down his list of priorities i am.

Just give him some space and let him fix his car, if he's renting a garage every evening he spends with you is money out of his pocket. The sooner he gets it done, the sooner he can spend time with you again without having to worry about his car. It's not like he's doing this for pleasure, it's pretty much a necessity.
