Worst one.... best friends sister

Im 18 years old (male) and my best friend is 21 (male), he has a sister thats 16 and i have liked her for a while but and my feelings just arent changing i think i need to switch my brain into "you only have one life" mode because i need to tell her how i feel, im fairly confident that things could go smoothy but at the same time i dont know how her brother would feel about it because me and him are best friends, compodres, amigos, i know he has enough respect for me to know what my intentions are with this but what else could come into play. Is it perhaps him i should tell first that i have liked his sister, or should i somehow get some private time with her and tell her. whether its him or her that i should tell, perhaps i could have some help with choice of words, im not one for these things because i have been numb to this dating thing because of one damn rejection in the past, i need to get past it with a little help from you fine people of course, ill simply conclude this with..

My brother in law (married to my sister) was my brother's best friend in the Air Force. I believe he warned my brother in advance that he was interested in my sister and was intending to ask her out. Afterwards, there were some minor jealousy issues to deal with, but it smoothed over in time.

Tell him. What can he really say about it? Feelings are feelings.

I remember my sister had the biggest crush on her best friend's older brother and she told her about it. Her friend was actually psyched about it and tried to hook them up!

Only problem was, he rejected her and ended up dating me for five years. Yikes.

From a vERY similar experience...

If you lose your friendship with either him or his sister then things will get very messy. The damage that causes can be hard, even impossible to repair. Also, I wouldn't bother with 16 year olds...They have a lot of growing up to do.

i was in the same spot

a mate of mine (not a realllly good mate, but a mate non the less) had a sister who showed intrest in me, and to be honest he didnt seem bothered at all, it did change the way we had a laugh together etc, it still has affected it, but he was cool with it and would even give me and her lifts to see eachother and stuff! so not all to bad really.

good luck, i'd suggest saying to your mate something like, 'would you mind if i go and talk to your sister' see if he protective over her or not?

I think you should just let things happen naturally. Dont go all out telling everyone. Just show an interest in her one day and if she shows one back talk to her about it. Ask her if shed like to go see a movie sometime.
Your personal life (as much as it seems mean) isnt your best friend's business. He should be happy for ya anyway :)

at the same time, you shouldn't keep things from your friends, it will only come back to haunt you. trust me.

as long as u r honest ,... u will be alright ... honesty might hurt initially but it is the best way to go
