Should I text him? We haven't had our first date yet.

So I asked out one of the yoga instructors at my studio. When we met for the first time, he saw me through a window and waved and I had no idea who he was or why he was waving. When I went in the studio to find more info out, even though there was already a woman talking with me, he still joined in the conversation. I think he might've thought I was cute and wanted to interact?

Anyways, after taking a few of his classes, I sucked it up and asked him out. I've been told that he's pretty good at not showing his true emotions through his face so I couldn't really tell what he was thinking. He seemed maybe a little surprised that I asked him out and maybe even embarrassed. He admitted that he doesn't normally get asked out (REALLY?!?!).

I asked him if he wanted to get drinks and he continued to the convo to find out what I would actually like to do (because I admitted that I only suggested drinks because it was the first thing that came to mind) and made a couple suggestions of his own. However, I asked him out just a couple days before he was to leave town for 2 weeks. And he also friendly warned me that he couldn't promise anything serious could come out of it because he is always competing (in yoga competitions) and, thus, focussed on training. I truly admire his honesty. He said if anything, at least a friendship could come out of it and that we could definitely hang out when he got back.

We exchanged numbers before I left. He added me on Facebook first the day after, and I texted him after he added me with a simple "hey have a good trip!" and he responded with "Thanks love_cautiously. I will see you when I get back."

It's been a little over a week now. My question is, do I text him or say anything? It's pretty much a business trip he went on, and so he hasn't texted me since that first time. Do I shoot him a "Hi, how's it going?" or anything like that? Or do I just wait until he gets back and I see him at the studio?

I think that you should wait until he comes back and see each other again at the studio. You shouldn't show too much interest too soon and not talking to each other but thinking of each other (hopefully you're not the only one who does it) will only build up some excitement before you'll be able to go out together for the first time.
